Amanda Donnelly, Ph.D., L.P., L.P.C.C., B.C.B., N.C.C.
My name is Dr. Amanda Donnelly, and I am a licensed psychologist, specializing in health psychology. I obtained my master’s degree in counseling from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and my doctoral degree in clinical psychology, specializing in health, from California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego, California. I have been a mental health provider since 2011, and I have worked in various settings with patients experiencing many different mental health issues.
I provide therapy for general mental health issues, including anxiety, stress, depression, fears/phobias, fatigue, loneliness, and feelings of overwhelm and/or burnout. In addition, I specialize in health psychology, which means that I have the same training as a general psychologist, and I have also received training on the psychological aspects of physical health issues. So, I provide therapy for people who may be experiencing sleep issues, chronic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, and more. One might ask, “How could it be helpful to see a psychologist if I am experiencing physical health issues? Is it because they think it is all ‘in my head’?” No, absolutely not. Experiencing health issues can be very difficult. What psychologists can help with is working on ways to cope when living with physical health issues and to figure out ways to still live a life you truly value. I also work with people who are struggling with their mental health due to the pandemic. I use evidence-based therapy backed by research, such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and biofeedback. My approach is nonjudgmental, and I encourage patients to share as much or as little as they would like in therapy. Then, together, we decide how and where to implement change.
I understand that you may have a busy schedule to work around, so in addition to normal business hours, I offer appointments before and after the typical workdays. Click Request Appointment to see my availability and schedule an appointment.
